Bankai: The Hardest Electro You'll Ever Listen To

Bankai_med
Will Dayble, better known by his stage name Bankai, is "one of the fastest rising glitch/nerdcore electro producers on the scene." Bankai's music is an amalgam of techo, dubstep, and metalcore. It isn't exactly any of those genres, though. Bankai's "glitch/nerdcore electro" is highly-programmed, meticulously produced techno that's more like a punch in the face than a song. As Alphamale Dictaphone put it, "this is the type of [stuff] you dance to so hard you wake up in the morning with a hangover and a self-inflicted concussion." Yep, that pretty much covers it. There isn't much subtlety in Bankai's music; it's a fast-paced, loud, and energizing sub-genre that demands to get you pumped—and won't take no for an answer.

The in-your-face styling of Bankai's music doesn't mean it lacks complexity. In fact, the amount of work Bankai puts into each song is simply amazing. Each one is unbelievably contorted, twisted, and glitched, creating something that somehow retains a beautiful melodiousness through all the blasting beats. It's astonishing to behold, and once you listen, you'll be hooked.

All of Bankai's songs are downloadable for free, under a Creative Commons license. That includes all of the stems of the songs as well, so remixing is insanely easy, legal, and encouraged. He deserves some serious kudos for that decision alone.

Bankai's sound definitely isn't for everyone. But if you're the kind of person looking for something to shake things up, or you happen to be on your way to a rave, take a listen to his work. It just might blow you away.
